Vosta designs and builds trailer for Dutch Dredging

VOSTA LMG in The Netherlands has been awarded a contract for the delivery of a complete engineering and component package for a trailing suction hopper dredger for Dutch Dredging  in The Netherlands.

The complete order consists of the design and engineering of a 2,800m3 trailing suction hopper dredger, including the delivery of the dredging equipment, propulsion systems, electrical installation, automation, hydraulic installation, navigation and communication systems.

The vessel will be built under VOSTA LMG supervision at the Ben Kien Shinco Shipyard based in Hai Phong, Vietnam. This shipyard is part of the Vietnamese Shipbuilding group Vinashin.

VOSTA LMG and Ben Kien Shipyard have co-operated before for the construction of two cutter suction dredges. 

This trailing suction hopper dredge is designed according to latest technology. The optimised bulbous bow will have a positive influence on speed and fuel consumption. Special measures have been taken to increase propulsion efficiency and to reduce noise and vibration.

The trailer will be equipped with a 800mm suction pipe with a dredging depth of 30m. It will also be equipped with 12 bottom doors and a MK-3 VOSTA LMG bow coupling for discharge purposes.

Two VL 750 dredge pumps will be installed as well as a number of VL standard Gate valve in various diameters. One pump will operate as the dredge pump and the second one as delivery pump.

VOSTA LMG will supervise construction in Vietnam, and installation and assembly of critical dredge components, as well as other key components such as the hydraulic system will also be managed by VOSTA LMG. VOSTA LMG will also provide crew training.
